Our Children

Children accepted into our education sponsorship program understand the benefits that an education can provide but, due to the tough economic circumstances in Haiti, are unable to afford the minimum costs of tuition and fees required to attend public school. After submitting an application, they are evaluated by one of our in-country coordinators and must be approved by a member of the Haitian Roots Board of Directors before they are accepted to our program. For $300/year (or $25/month) you help a child attend school -- an opportunity taken for granted by most of us. To the children (and their families) in our sponsorship program, receiving an education means hope for the future and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Rose Carline Noel

Rose's date of birth is 10 March 1997. She lives with a cousin who brought her to the school. Her favorite school subject is English. She would like to learn more about information technology. She says when she is not at school she likes to read the Bible. She dreams of being able to travel one day because she wants to be able to learn about people and grow.


Jerry Jean Baptiste

This is Jerry. He was born in 2015. He lives with his parents. He loves to play with his friends at school. He is very shy. His favorite time at school is when he gets to color with crayons. He says he would like to learn about computers when he grows up.


Saphir Jacques Saint

Saphir was born in 2014. She loves going to the Haitian Roots Academy. Her teachers say that she is very smart and obedient in class. When she is not at school, her favorite things to do are eat and play with her doll.


Emmanuel Pierre

Emmanuel was born in 2015. He lives with his parents and his older brother, who also attends the Haitian Roots Academy in Santo. He is quite shy, but he is very good at doing what is asked in class and when he warms up, he loves when they read and recite poems. He says that he wants to work with computers some day.
