Children accepted into our education sponsorship program understand the benefits that an education can provide but, due to the tough economic circumstances in Haiti, are unable to afford the minimum costs of tuition and fees required to attend public school. After submitting an application, they are evaluated by one of our in-country coordinators and must be approved by a member of the Haitian Roots Board of Directors before they are accepted to our program. For $300/year (or $25/month) you help a child attend school -- an opportunity taken for granted by most of us. Hi! My name is Novensky. I might not look it in this photo, but I am very outgoing and I love to talk! A lot! I will be turning 6 years old on the 21st of December (born 2008). I am in 1st grade at the Haitian Roots Academy. I love all kinds of sports and am very athletic. I am kind and helpful. I would like to become the principal of a school when I grow up.
Jean Phillipe Dort
Jean Phillipe is 13 years old. His birthday is December 29th. He lives with his parents and 4 siblings. Two of his sisters are also in the Haitian Roots program. Jean most enjoys French class at school. He loves to play soccer. He would like to become an Engineer one day so that he can learn how to build sturdy homes.
Wesnaytha is 7 years old and attends school at the orphanage preschool. She has never had the opportunity to go to school before now and the teacher is hopeful that she can catch her up to her age group. Wesnaytha loves to climb on everything and do flips. She would probably be a gymnast if she had the chance!
Jahiko Dwens Charlestan
Jahiko is just 3 years old and started preschool. We are always thrilled to have an opportunity to give a child a great start in life! Jahiko loves to draw. His mother says she hopes he'll want to become a doctor some day but that at this point she has no idea. Jahiko enjoys soccer and loves to eat. There is not a food so far that Jahiko will turn down!
Kens-Soule was born in 1994. She was behind in school because she was not able to attend until joining Haitian Roots. But she works hard at school and enjoys it and plans to graduate by 2017.

Marc David Oldwenson Dorisca
Marc is 11 years old. His birthday is August 10th. His favorite subjects in school are Geography and Grammar. Marc has a learning disorder which makes school hard for him but also makes him appreciate even more the opportunity that he has to attend school. Marc likes playing soccer. When asked what he was most grateful for he responded, "My existence with a good life, my school, nature, and the Bible."
Roodjanie is 5 years old. She is a crack up! She has a very feisty personality but is also funny, smart, and very loving. Her family has struggled in many ways since her father was killed in the earthquake. Roodjanie likes to eat rice and beans. Her favorite things to do at school are color and draw.
Greffline is 6 years old. She lives at La Maison Orphanage along with her older brother, Widner Jules. She has an amazingly bright and sparkling demeanor. Everybody who meets her seems drawn to her. Greffline loves to draw and dance.
