Our Children

Children accepted into our education sponsorship program understand the benefits that an education can provide but, due to the tough economic circumstances in Haiti, are unable to afford the minimum costs of tuition and fees required to attend public school. After submitting an application, they are evaluated by one of our in-country coordinators and must be approved by a member of the Haitian Roots Board of Directors before they are accepted to our program. For $300/year (or $25/month) you help a child attend school -- an opportunity taken for granted by most of us. To the children (and their families) in our sponsorship program, receiving an education means hope for the future and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Bonjou! My name is Joseph. My birthday is 6 Aug 2005. I am in third grade and I live with my mother. In school I enjoy learning Math and French. When I’m not in school I like to read and play soccer. I think I would like to be an engineer when I grow up. I also hope that someday I can visit the USA. My teachers say that I am humble and cheerful and that I need to work harder on my French.


Macdarline Dilus

Bonjou! My name is Macdaline. My birthday is 10 June 2006. I live with my mother, father, and my sister. I love to read, dance, and color. I am very helpful at school and am very good at math. I am proud of the way I dance. I like helping people so I think I might enjoy becoming a nurse. Also, someday I hope I get to visit Santo Domingo.


Woodmail Rodchild Cherilus

Bonjou! I’m Woodmail. My birthday is 1 August 2005. I go to the Haitian Roots Academy. I like learning French at school. I love to play soccer and my favorite color is red. I hope someday I can learn how to grow my own food and be an agronomist because I like to eat!


MacArthur Charlostin

I’m MacArthur and I’m 13 years old. My birthday is 19 Sept 2002. I live with my mother and my brother and sister. My favorite school subject is Spanish. When I’m not at school I like playing soccer and just hanging out with my friends. I have a lot of friends but when asked who is my best friend, I feel I must respond that it is God. I dream of becoming a doctor one day.


Chrisdarly Whitney Charles

Hello my name is Whitney. I am 6 years old and in first grade. In school I love learning how to read. I want to be a doctor someday. One of the best things about me is that I’m very loving and kind to everybody. My favorite color is red. My teachers say that I’m good at learning math and reading. I hope that someday I can visit Miami because I know some people like to go there.


Chamar Almonord

Bonjou! I am Chamar and my birthday is 7 Dec 2007. I live with my aunt right now. I like learning French, Math, and Reading. I hope to go into medicine after I graduate. I would like to continue my studies in the US. I like to play basketball. My favorite colors are pink and red. My best friend is Kechney. In school my teachers say that I work hard and do a good job but sometimes I’m a bit too social and talk a lot!

Hello, my name is Jean Renald. My birthday is 6 Oct 2006 and I’m in third grade. I live with my mother, sister, and brother. My favorite subjects in school are Math and French. I am good at answering questions and participating in class. My dream is to someday go to the US to study to become a medical doctor.


Saika Pierre

Sanaika is 8 years old. Her birthday is March 4th, 2007. She lives with an aunt and several cousins. Her favorite subject in school is math. She hopes to become a nurse to help Haiti some day. When she is not in school she likes to read. Her favorite color is pink!

Hi! My name is Tommy. I live in St. Marc and just joined the Haitian Roots program. My birth date is 7 March 2009. I live with my mother and sister. I love to draw.
