Children accepted into our education sponsorship program understand the benefits that an education can provide but, due to the tough economic circumstances in Haiti, are unable to afford the minimum costs of tuition and fees required to attend public school. After submitting an application, they are evaluated by one of our in-country coordinators and must be approved by a member of the Haitian Roots Board of Directors before they are accepted to our program. For $300/year (or $25/month) you help a child attend school -- an opportunity taken for granted by most of us. To the children (and their families) in our sponsorship program, receiving an education means hope for the future and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. You can change the life of one of these precious children by becoming a sponsor today!
If you give a man a fish he is hungry again in an hour. If you teach him to catch a fish you do him a good turn.

Laurie Dorriane E Henry
Hello! My name is Dorianne and I’m in 8th grade. My birthday is 7 April 2003. My favorite subjects in school are Spanish and French, but I am good with all languages and already write English quite well! I like to read and I love to learn new things. My best friend at school is Genevieve. We like to play together. I hope that one day I can become a doctor! I also dream of traveling to the United States and to Switzerland!
Dorianne Melissa Louis
Dorianne is 8 years old. Her birthday is March 8th. Her favorite thing that she is learning in school is how to sew. Although it is difficult to get her to smile for the camera, Dorianne is a very sweet girl with a kind heart. She works hard and likes to share and serve others.
I’m MacArthur and I’m 13 years old. My birthday is 19 Sept 2002. I live with my mother and my brother and sister. My favorite school subject is Spanish. When I’m not at school I like playing soccer and just hanging out with my friends. I have a lot of friends but when asked who is my best friend, I feel I must respond that it is God. I dream of becoming a doctor one day.
Keisha Jean Jacques
My name is Keisha. I am not even 3 years old yet but I was able to start school at the Haitian Roots Academy to give me a good start in life. My birthday is 1 Feb 2012. Even though I am young, I try hard at school and I follow the rules. I love to dance and to sing! I have a kind heart.
Hello, my name is Jephte Clement. I was born in 20 September 2007. I am in kindergarten. I am a bit behind in my schooling because I haven’t always had the opportunity to go. I love being able to come to the Haitian Root Academy. I am friendly but also quiet and gentle. When I bring lunch to school I always share with the other kids who don’t have any. My dream is to become a police officer one day!
Laure Sophia Henry
My name is Sophia and I’m in the 3rd year kindergarten class. I love to sing, dance, and read. I am outgoing and fun but my teachers say I’m also capricious. This is most likely because my father left our family and it is very hard for me. I consider him my best friend and I miss him.

Jonas was born in 2003. At age 11 he is only in the third grade due to the fact that he started school so late. He continues to struggle at school somewhat due to the fact that his family struggles to eat. For kids like Jonas, we're working hard to start a food program.
