Children accepted into our education sponsorship program understand the benefits that an education can provide but, due to the tough economic circumstances in Haiti, are unable to afford the minimum costs of tuition and fees required to attend public school. After submitting an application, they are evaluated by one of our in-country coordinators and must be approved by a member of the Haitian Roots Board of Directors before they are accepted to our program. For $300/year (or $25/month) you help a child attend school -- an opportunity taken for granted by most of us. To the children (and their families) in our sponsorship program, receiving an education means hope for the future and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. You can change the life of one of these precious children by becoming a sponsor today!
If you give a man a fish he is hungry again in an hour. If you teach him to catch a fish you do him a good turn.
Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie
Hello, I am Elize. You pronounce the "e" at the end of my name and I'm a boy, not a girl! I am 10 years old. I live with my older brother and my parents. My father had his back broken during the earthquake and we also lost all of our belongings. Life has been extra hard since then, so I'm grateful that Haitian Roots can help me to go to school.
Marie Claudia Louis
Marie is 10 years old. Her birthday is May 15th. Her favorite subject in school is Math. She would like to become a doctor one day. She enjoys playing soccer. She is most grateful for, "My mom, my dad, God, School, and everyone that helps me."
Hello! My name is Jemima Oreus. I was born on 6 October 2001, alongside my twin sister, Sammansa. I also have an older sister and a younger brother. We live in St. Marc. My favorite school subjects are French and English. I would like to become a great leader in society one day and also a knowledgeable doctor so that I can save the lives of those who are in danger or sick. The things I am most grateful for are: school, church, my friends, my leaders, and my family.
Valdivio St Fleur
Validivio is quick to smile. He lives at La Maison orphanage with his 2 older sisters. He enjoys preschool at the orphanage as long as he is rested and not in need of a nap. His sisters take good care of him. He is happy and easy to play with.
John Taylove Pierre
John is 5 years old. He was born in 2009. He is very excited to be starting school and can't wait to learn to read. His mother says he'd make a good doctor because, "he is sensible and can't stand to see people suffer." John has a lot of chores and responsibilities but when he has free time he likes to play soccer. His favorite color is blue. He likes to eat rice, beans, and meat but doesn't like corn.

Richard is 11 years old. He is in the program along with his younger sister, Shledia. Richard is a sweet boy and very smart. He likes to joke around and smile.
